Working in the medical-surgical department of King Saud
University's College of Nursing, Dr. Abdualrahman Alshehry is an associate
professor and nurse consultant. Before being appointed a lecturer at King Saud University in
June 2009, Dr. Alshehry worked in the clinical field since 1998, when he got
his nursing diploma. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Applied
Science University in Jordan in 2004. As a Bachelor of Science student, Dr.
Alshehry spent six months interning in a Bradford, England, hospital. A master's degree in critical care nursing was conferred
upon Dr. Alshehry by Griffith University of Australia in December 2006. He
worked at the John Flynn Gold Coast Private Hospital in Australia for a year
while he got his master's degree. The clinical experience of Dr. Alshehry in Saudi Arabia is
diverse. Because of this, he divides his time between the Ministry of Health
and King Faisal Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC). He has worked in
a variety of pediatric ERs, hemodialysis facilities, intensive care units, and
critical care units. The University of Massachusetts granted Dr. Alshehry the
title of "Doctor" in 2016. In addition to his consulting work with
the Ministry of Health on several projects, he has been employed at King Saud
University's College of Nursing since his return. His managerial experience
includes stints as department head for academic affairs and board of trustees
for the private colleges and universities run by the Ministry of Education,
both of which he has held while consulting for the government. Dr. Alshehry formed the division in charge of overseeing and
guaranteeing compliance at all of the private colleges and universities that
are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. Not only did he create
the business unit of the College of Nursing at King Saud University, but he
also conceptualized the Innovation and Entrepreneurship track. Dr. Alshehry is a well-respected and very involved member of
two Australian nursing organizations: The Royal College of Nursing and the
Australian College of Critical Care Nurses. He is a member of the Saudi Council
for Health Specialties and has many positions, including those of senior
expert, nursing consultant, and nurse assessor.
